I signed up for another circle journal on UKS. This was something new for me - a fabric circle journal. I didn't really know where to start so I'm very relieved to be more or less ready to post my own. I'm using calico cut to 8x8 inches. I decided on a theme of vintage dressmaking but I think it may change to vintage fashion or just vintage. Here's my first page

The photograph is of my grandmother, probably taken in about 1915, so more or less 100 years ago. I've added ribbon, , tape, lace, pleated lace and beads

I like using the gelli plate for backgrounds. It seems to give the faces more character seems to give significantly better results than using plain pages and painting from scratch.

I bought some elastic on my way home and finished the recycled card journal so here it is

Recycled card journal

I followed a you tube video by Jennybellie to make a recycled card journal. Jennybellie's instructions are very clear and it was a good project for January  to use some of the Christmas cards

I started by painting the insides of the cards where necessary to cover any writing

Then I covered the outside of the cards with scrapbook paper

and made the covers (also from Christmas cards)

When I added the signatures I added beads to the spine

All I need now is some elastic for the closure, so I'll have to buy that tomorrow

and then of course I need to use it for art journaling

Here's another girl Mindy style

This is a project that needs finishing. I took a remnant of calico, painted it with fabric paint and started to embroider flowers over the painted surface. I plan to add French knots and beads

Next I tried a wintry girl. The girls all seem to turn out thoughtful or a little worried

I can't believe how long it is since I posted. It doesn't mean that I haven't been doing anything creative, I just haven't been blogging. There was a month when I didn't have a computer after a terrible accident with a glass of water. Then the new laptop has windows 8, which has been a difficult learning curve.

I've become very interested in Mindy Lacefield's art and have attempted to copy her style. This is some of my attempts
