Art journaling

Although it's a while since the last post it doesn't mean that I haven't been journaling. Here's a selection of recent work

Leaf prints

 

 

I recently spent 2 weeks in Cornwall on a solitary retreat.. The weather was wonderful and I spent a lot of time outside. I wondered whether I could do some leaf prints with limited art supplies.. I didn't have a gelli plate with me so I used  a non-stick craft sheet and a brayer. The results were variable but there were some I was pleased with

Another twisted sisters circle journal

The theme for  this journal was freak art. I finished a page on the background I was sent and then started another background for the next person to use.

Time to do my page in the next circle journal. The theme for this journal was a alphabet journal. I chose K for Kiss.

Another junk journal

The pages from the latest junk journal swap recently arrived. This time I decided to bind the pages myself, combining them with some scrapbook papers,  Here is the resulting journal. I just need to add some paper beads and then I can start to complete the pages inside. I haven't taken photo of everything I received in the swap, but most of it is included in my journal.

This is the front cover. The spine is painted canvas

 

I love these pages with this wonderful french. I used adhesive fabric tape to reinforce along the spine

and of course the back cover.

Day of the dead 2

Having enjoyed creating the day of the dead page for the circle journal I decided to do something similar in my own journal. This is the result

Freak art

Sian's circle journal has the theme Freak art. We were asked to add a freaky character and a freaky art saying (an alternative 'She Art' affirmation)
I was stuck with this one, with no ideas at all. I put lots of different phrases into google and eventually tracked down a tutorial which showed me how to make a Day of the Dead inspired page http://everyday-is-a-holiday.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/art-journaling-with-jenny-aaron-class-11.html
So here's my version
